Day 006: Escape

So, the garage is being redone and the builders put up this orange plastic fence so that the dogs can still use the backyard. I don't know if a rabbit chewed a hole in it or if the hole was already there, but a certain somebody found the hole and decided to go on an adventure without telling me. Meanwhile, I am in the house, working on the last paper of my college career. At 9:00 Rodney reminds me that it's dinner time and I feed him and put food in Toby's bowl. That's when I realized something was wrong. Toby can hear food poured in his bowl anywhere in the house and usually comes running. But this time he didn't. After searching all three floors of the house and the backyard, I started freaking out. I went out to the front yard, but saw nothing. I was getting ready to go back in the house when I decided to look down the street, all the while frantically calling his name. I looked toward the right, and there he is just past the property line in the neighbor's yard. Of course, he's looking at me like "what?" After taking him back in the house, I went outside to inspect the yard and determined the only way he could've gotten out is the orange fence. The builders had staked down some of it, but they underestimated Toby's curiosity and cleverness. So, I used tent stakes and tacked the fence down further. I just gotten to the end of the fence when I discovered the hole.I'm guessing that's how he got out. I've got the hole blocked for now, but if it was caused by a pissed off bunny who couldn't get through, then there could be more in the future. For the rest of the night, Toby stuck pretty close to me, perhaps understanding how much he scared me?
